Hans-Werner Sinn has introduced important changes in his tenure as chairman of the Verein für Socialpolitik (1997-2000). He has given the Verein a decisive impetus by the new edition of the journals German Economic Review and Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik, the introduction of the innovative Conference Subsidy Program for young scientists and the initial assignment of the Gossen-Prize.
The first Gustav-Schmoller-Medal was awarded at the VfS-Annual Conference 2014 in Hamburg by Chairman Michal C. Burda.
Olaf W. Reimann
Quietly and almost unnoticed Olaf W. Reimann has introduced, developed and maintanced the submission platform of the Verein's Open Meeting for more than a decade. His expert support to the preparatory commissions has enabled a tripling of the volume of submissions. He has helped the Verein to make the annual meeting one of the most important events in the world of economics in Europe.
