PhD Student or Postdoc (AR a.Z.) (m/w/d)

The research and teaching activities of its team members center around empirical questions in economics and management.


We are seeking to fill an open position as
                                                                PhD Student or Postdoc (AR a.Z.) (m/w/d)

starting from 01 March 2020. The temporary position is intended to be full-time (40.1 hours per week) and will be given to a PhD student or Postdoc, depending on the qualification of the appli-cant. The contract will be temporary and offers an appropriate timeframe for the applicant to reach the next step of scientific qualification (Promotion/Habilitation, see § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG). Remu-neration is based on TV-L E 13 or A13.

Your tasks:

  • Participation in the development of research projects for scientific publication and presen-tation of the results in national and international conferences.
  • Providing support to the teaching activities of the Chair (e.g., by taking care of tutorial clas-ses, seminars and theses supervisions).
  • Providing support to the administrative activities of the Chair in the field of research (e.g., by helping organizing research workshops and applying to third-party funding).


Our requirements:

  • An excellent master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in economics or in related areas (e.g., in psychology, management, mathematics)
  • For the Postdoc position, a PhD in economics is required
  • A strong interest in research questions in the fields of behavioral economics, organizational economics, labor economics and/or development economics
  • The plan to use empirical and experimental methods in their dissertation/habilitation.
  • The ability to use econometrics software to analyze data (preferably STATA) and program-ming software to run experiments (e.g., z-tree, O–Tree, Qualtrics), or the willingness to familiarize with this software
  • Willingness to engage in theoretical modelling, although this will not be the core of the dis-sertation/habilitation.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).
  • Serious consideration of undertaking an academic career is a strong plus.
